GRACE: Greenland Aerosol and Chemistry Experiment
POLARCAT-GRACE Campaign from July 01 - July 17, 2008
The DLR Institut für Physik der Atmosphäre will be deploying the DLR Falcon 20 during the POLARCAT-GRACE (POLARCAT - Greenland Aerosol and Chemistry Experiment) campaign. The GRACE field deployment of the DLR Falcon research aircraft is a German contribution to the POLARCAT (Polar study using aircraft, remote sensing, surface measurements and modelling of climate, chemistry, aerosols and transport) activity, a core project of the International Polar Year (IPY) in 2007 and 2008. The POLARCAT international programme includes measurements from aircraft, satellite and ground stations with the objective to quantify the import of trace gases and aerosols to the Arctic and their impact on atmospheric composition and climate. The base of the Falcon operation during GRACE will be Kangerlussuaq in Greenland working cooperatively with the French based ATR-42 Aircraft.
