The meeting was the first international coordinating meeting for POLARCAT since the inception of IPY. At present we have over 38 participants registered from eight different countries representing 20 different activities. Vital to the success of POLARCAT and the International Polar Year (IPY) is the close cooperation of these activities in all aspects of the research including: campaign planning and data collection, data sharing and archiving protocols, and activity outreach. This initial meeting will serve as staging point for these subjects, and thus represents a critical component of the POLARCAT program.

POLARCAT meeting: 4 to 6 June, 2007

Location: Universite Pierre et Marie Curie (UPMC) (also known as Paris
VI), metro Jussieu (lines 7 or 10) - see attached map.

The meeting will take place in the following locations:

** Note: directions are given in relation to the towers numbered 16 to 71
which make up the university - enter by the main entrance between towers 26
and 46 (see map) and go to the towers/buildings indicated.

** Wifi Access: We are trying to set up wifi access but it is not
guaranteed.
