Flight plan and report

Objectives are a Barrow module, intercomparison with Convair, and B-200 with HSRL Lidar and Calipso overpassing. Biomass burning plume wrapping around a low pressure system right over Barrow during overflight. Most polluted layer encountered so far, also as reported from the B-200. Right behind cleanest air encountered so far - well coinciding with Flexpart forecast.

On Terra and Aqua images, brownish layer apparent on top of the stratus. Stratus deck at 4kft, overlayed by biomass plume - agrees well with Flexpart altitudes. 2 missed approaches after stepwise descend, followed by Convair missed approach. Cloud work at 73N, 159W. Try to encounter multi-year sea ice under clear skies failed. Start and end of multi-year ice however with old and new ice, respectively. Point M moved to 154W

Last flight planned for Monday, potentially in southward moving Arctic air in rebuilding low pressure system.
